GUEST BIO
Jamod Parham
Dancer and Choreographer
The Mulberry Tree Group
Born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama, Jamod Parham is a passionate dancer and choreographer who has been captivating audiences for three years. The son of Tiffany and Rodrick Parham, Jamod’s journey in dance began in 10th grade after exploring his love for performance in musical theater camps throughout Montgomery. His early experiences sparked a profound appreciation for dance, leading him to create the acclaimed piece "Breathe,” which was nationally adjudicated in 2022.
Driven by a desire to innovate, Jamod developed his own modern dance technique, known as the Breathing Technique, focusing on unique, breath-driven movements. In 2023, he founded his own dance company "The Jamod Parham Dance Company" and within just one year, he choreographed five full ballets and completed a successful tour across the South.
Despite facing challenges along the way, including a lack of support and the difficulty of growing up in a tough neighborhood, Jamod persevered. His father was initially unsupportive of his dance ambitions, but with the unwavering support of his mother, he pursued his dreams relentlessly. Inspired by seeing the Alvin Ailey performance in 2022, he knew he wanted to make a mark in the dance world. Currently, he is a first-year student at The Ailey School and the only first-year certificate student in the Ailey Student Performance Group, the third company under the Ailey organization.
